No Depot Tours in 2011
No tours of the former Seneca Army Depot to view the white deer and military artifacts have been scheduled for 2011. We are hoping to receive permission to conduct more tours in the future, but any tours are contingent on approval from the Seneca County Industrial Development Agency.

Please notify me if the tours start. Thank you very much
Very interested in the tours. Thanks.
I would greatly appreciate notification (if and when you get permission to tour the depot). As a career military person I was posted at the depot 4 times during my 20+years of service (1958-1980).
It would be a great day just to go back and see if any of the old facilities are still standing.
Thanks: Roy Combs
I was stationed at SEAD in the early 80′s I remember the white deer, awesome site. I also vividly remember the day the ‘womens encampment’ opened and the next year and a half of fun. The Finger Lakes is a beautiful area…
I would like to go see the Depot in 2012 to remember the closing of the 295th MP CO. 20 years ago. Let me know if a tour of what’s left is scheduled in 2012.
People from all over the world would love to see the White deer inside the fence. I can’t believe that the Seneca County Industrial Development Agency isn’t taking advantage of this incredible natural resource.
Paid tours could be conducted in trolleys on the extensive road system already in place without disturbing the wildlife.
I have little interest in the remaining military facilities but the deer are quite fascinating.
Thanks.
i do hope the seneca county industrial development agency isn’t giving serious thought to actually developing these 10,000 acres. the white deer, unless relocated to another protected habitat, will not survive in the wild.
why can’t you just let well enough alone and allow tours, etc to view what’s left of the facility and the deer.
I am disappointed that there will be no tours for the White Deer in 2011!! We always made a day of it, travel to the area from Rochester, tour the depot, lunch in Geneva, stop at a winery and end up at the Waterloo outlet….this attraction site has benefited many in the Fingerlakes area. It is unconscionable to me that the “higher up” can’t visualize that and really work to promote it.
Please notify us of any tours!
Having taken the tour before, I was hoping to go again… who should I pester to encourage them to grant permission? Is there a specific individual, or a committee?
Please notify me of any tours, thanks!
Please notify me of any tours. Thanks!
If tours end up being scheduled, please email me. Thank you.
This was the year I was hoping to finally make it
Please notify me when tours are scheduled again. Thank you.
What better way to develop this site for BOTH tourism & development!! There is room for both @ the Depot. With proper stewardship, we can preserve the White Deer population for both tourism & biologic/genetic science, & attract both Academics with their students as well as regional & National tourism, if properly marketed.
Commercial development especially with railway & ? Air access, would both increase both the county taxes and help with the high unemployment problem. Get ORGANIZED & DO IT!!!!!
Please let me know of tours.
I coordinate travel for three different senior groups. Please let me know, if and when, tours are again available. I have had several people ask me about the tours.
We have gone on past tours and want very much to be able to go again. Please let me know if or when tours are again scheduled! Thanks.
